94th International Session of European Youth Parliament – Ljubljana 2021

Ljubljana 2021

The 94th International Session of the European Youth Parliament (EYP) will take place in in a hybrid format (in Ljubljana and online) from the 31st of July  to the 8th of August 2021. This will be the first event of this kind to be happening in Slovenia, and only the third in the countries of former Yugoslavia.

International Sessions in general

International Sessions are the flagship events of the European Youth Parliament. The very first International Session of the EYP took place in Fontainebleau, France in 1988. Since then, the EYP organises three International Sessions every year. Each of them brings together about 300 young people for 9 days from around 40 European countries.

International Sessions also serve as best practice showcases and laboratories for innovations in the network. Here, good ideas can be implemented and shared as best practices for the organisation.

Just like all other EYP events, International Sessions are organised by young people, for young people. The majority of those who take part in an International Session are students aged between 15 and 20 years. They are selected by the partner organisations from their home countries, usually through a selection process at the national level – for example, at a “National Selection Conference”.

At the session, experienced young volunteer also take on various other roles as moderators, organisers, or members of the “media team”.

Other International Sessions

Since 1988, more than 90 International Sessions have been hosted in 29 countries and more than 70 different cities, allowing over 20,000 young Europeans to experience the EYP spirit and learn how to collaborate across borders. Besides Ljubljana, there are going to be International Sessions organised in Novi Sad (Serbia), Riga (Latvia) and Kortrijk (Belgium) over the next 2 years. A complete list of the EYP’s International Sessions can be found here.
